    Back to News & Press Tyne Daly in Master Class Friday, 4 November 2011 Master Class, produced in the West End by Max Cooper, Maberry Theatricals, the Marks-Moore-Turnbull Group, Ted Snowdon and Sonia Friedman Productions in association with the Manhattan Theatre Club, will run at the Vaudeville Theatre for 14 weeks only from 21 January to 28 April, with press night on 7 February 2012. Set design is by Thomas Lynch, costume design by Martin Pakledinaz, lighting by David Lander and sound by Jon Gottlieb. Tickets go on sale today (4 November 2011) for Master Class and further casting will be announced shortly. Terrence McNally’s play about Maria Callas takes audiences to one of her famous master classes, where, late in her own career, she dares the next generation to make the same sacrifices and rise to the same heights that made her the most celebrated, the most reviled and the most controversial singer of her time. Terrence McNally’s Master Class received its world premiere at the John Golden Theatre in 1995, wining the Tony Award for Best Play and the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding New Play. Stephen Wadsworth’s Manhattan Theatre Club production opened at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre earlier this year. Tyne Daly first appeared in Stephen Wadsworth's production of Master Class at the Kennedy Center. Multi award-winning Tyne Daly plays Maria Callas. She is best known on television for her portrayal of Detective Mary Beth Lacey in Cagney and Lacey, for which she received four Emmy Awards. For her roles as Maxine Gray in Judging Amy and Alice Henderson in Christy she received two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama. For the former she also won Golden Globe Award. Her many Broadway credits include Rose in Gypsy for which she won the Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical, Mme. Arkadina in The Seagull and Rabbit Hole. Daley’s film credits include The Enforcer, Dirty Harry, John and Mary and Telefon. Writer Terrence McNally has won four Tony Awards for his plays Love! Valour! Compassion! and Master Class and his musical books for Kiss of the Spiderwoman and Ragtime. More recent Broadway revivals of his plays include The Ritz and Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune. His other plays include A Perfect Ganesh, Corpus Christi, Lips Together and Its Only a Play. His most recent play, Golden Age, was featured in the Kennedy Center celebration of his work year. For the musical theatre other his librettos include Catch Me if You Can, The Full Monty, The Rink, The Visit, A Man of No Importance and the opera Dead Man Walking. McNally has also written a number of television scripts including Andre's Mother for which he won an Emmy Award. Theatre and Opera director Stephen Wadsworth has worked for Metropolitan Opera, Teatro alla Scala, Royal Opera Covent Garden, Vienna Staatsoper, Edinburgh Festival, Nederlandse Opera, Seattle Opera and in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Toronto and Santa Fe. Wadsworth is the Head of Dramatic Studies at the Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, the James S.     Back to News & Press Sunny Afternoon to leave London in October Wednesday, 15 June 2016 The multi-Olivier award-winning hit British musical SUNNY AFTERNOON will conclude its London run at the end of its current booking period on 29 October this year, after more than two years in the West End. The production will begin a national tour on 19 August at the Manchester Opera House. To mark the 50th anniversary of The Kinks’ hit single Sunny Afternoon reaching Number One in 1966, 50 top price tickets for every performance in July are on sale for £19.66. The critically-acclaimed musical Sunny Afternoon tells the story of the early life of Ray Davies and the rise to stardom of The Kinks. It has established itself as a firm favourite with audiences and critics alike since it opened at the Harold Pinter Theatre in October 2014. Paddington is played by James Hameed (Paddington Off-stage Performer and Remote Puppeteer) and Arti Shah (Paddington On-stage Performer). The team behind the bear are Tahra Zafar (Paddington Bear Designer), Audrey Brisson (Bear Physicality Associate Director), Phill Woodfine (Remote Puppetry Coach) and Annabelle Davis (Paddington Bear Casting Director).     Back to News & Press Full casting announced for The Nether Monday, 17 November 2014 David Calder joins the West End cast of The Nether to play Doyle, previewing at the Duke of York’s Theatre from 30 January 2015 and opening on 23 February. Directed by Jeremy Herrin, Jennifer Haley’s critically acclaimed, multi-award-winning play is booking for 12 weeks only to 25 April 2015.     Back to News & Press Royal Court Theatre and Sonia Friedman Productions announce full cast for Robert Icke's MANHUNT Wednesday, 12 February 2025 Royal Court Theatre and Sonia Friedman Productions today announce casting for Robert Icke ’s Manhunt. Written and directed by Icke, the world premiere marks his Royal Court debut and tells the story of Raoul Moat: the man at the heart of one of the most infamous manhunts of the century. The cast includes: Samuel Edward-Cook, Trevor Fox, Leo James , Patricia Jones, Danny Kirrane, Angela Lonsdale, Sally Messham and Nicolas Tennant. Nathan Jago and Odhran Riddell will alternate the role of Boy and Zoe Bryan and Madeleine McKenna will alternate the role of Girl.     Back to News & Press Final six weeks of The Ferryman in the West End after winning three awards at the 2018 Olivier Awards Monday, 9 April 2018 Produced by Sonia Friedman Productions , Neal Street Productions and Royal Court Theatre Productions, The Ferryman will play its final performance at the Gielgud Theatre on 19 May 2018, prior to its Broadway transfer. More than 350,000 people will have seen the production during its year long run of 410 performances, with over 14,000 tickets sold at £12.50 or under. Jez Butterworth ’s The Ferryman was the most recognised play at this year’s Olivier Awards with eight award nominations. It went on to win the award for Best New Play, while Sam Mendes was awarded Best Director and Laura Donnelly received the honour for Best Actress. The Olivier Awards follow successes at The Evening Standard Awards, Critics Circle Awards and What’s On Stage Awards at all of which The Ferryman was given the Best New Play Award. The production won widespread critical acclaim when it opened at the Royal Court and was the fastest selling show in the theatre’s history. This phenomenal success has continued at the Gielgud Theatre where it has been playing to sold-out houses. The current company includes Dean Ashton as Frank Magennis, Declan Conlon as Muldoon, Rosalie Craig in the role of Caitlin Carney, Kevin Creedon as JJ Carney, Charles Dale as Father Horrigan, Sean Delaney as Michael Carney, Justin Edwards as Tom Kettle, Saoirse-Monica Jackson as Shena Carney, Terence Keeley as Diarmaid Corcoran, Laurie Kynaston as Oisin Carney, Mark Lambert as Uncle Pat, Catherine McCormack as Mary Carney, Stella McCusker as Aunt Maggie Far Away, Owen McDonnell playing Quinn Carney, Francis Mezza as Shane Corcoran, Glenn Speers as Lawrence Malone and Siân Thomas as Aunt Pat. As previously the full company comprises 37 performers: 17 main adults, 7 covers, 12 children on rota and 1 baby. The Ferryman in the West End is directed by Sam Mendes , designed by Rob Howell , lighting by Peter Mumford , sound and original music by Nick Powell , with the current cast directed by Tim Hoare and casting by Amy Ball CDG . Sonia Friedman Productions and Neal Street Productions will transfer The Ferryman to Broadway at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre (242 W 45th St, New York) opening in October 2018.
