Back to News & Press Final six weeks of The Ferryman in the West End after winning three awards at the 2018 Olivier Awards Tuesday, 10 April 2018 Produced by Sonia Friedman Productions , Neal Street Productions and Royal Court Theatre Productions, The Ferryman will play its final performance at the Gielgud Theatre on 19 May 2018, prior to its Broadway transfer. More than 350,000 people will have seen the production during its year long run of 410 performances, with over 14,000 tickets sold at £12.50 or under. Jez Butterworth ’s The Ferryman was the most recognised play at this year’s Olivier Awards with eight award nominations. It went on to win the award for Best New Play, while Sam Mendes was awarded Best Director and Laura Donnelly received the honour for Best Actress. These powerhouse names from across the worlds of stage, television, film and music join forces with Eleanor Lloyd Productions, Chuchu Nwagu Productions and Sonia Friedman Productions to bring Benedict Lombe’s intoxicating new romance to London’s West End following its sold out run at the Bush Theatre earlier this year. Back to News & Press Further tickets available for Farinelli and the King due to high demand Friday, 5 June 2015 Onstage seating for the West End transfer of Claire van Kampen’s critically-acclaimed new play Farinelli and the King, starring Mark Rylance, will be released to the general public on Friday 5th June at 10am. Additionally, further seats will be released for all performances, including accessibly priced £10 tickets located in all parts of the house. Farinelli and the King is directed by John Dove and designed by Jonathan Fensom with musical arrangements by Claire van Kampen. Mark Rylance (Wolf Hall, Jerusalem, Richard III, Twelfth Night) reprises his role as King Philippe V of Spain and Sam Crane will once again play the acting role of Farinelli. The singing role of Farinelli will be reprised by opera star Iestyn Davies and shared with Rupert Enticknap and Owen Willets*. The rest of the original cast will also transfer, with Huss Garbiya playing Doctor Jose Cervi, Melody Grove playing Isabella Farnese, Colin Hurley playing Metastasio and Edward Peel playing De la Cuadra. Theatregoers who choose the onstage seating, available at a range of prices including £10, will have an up-close and personal experience in the transformed Duke of York’s Theatre. The magical atmosphere of the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse will be brought to the West End with scenes lit by candlelight and live Baroque music played by six onstage musicians, led by harpsichordist and Musical Director Robert Howarth. Jonathan Fensom, set and costume designer said: "We will be creating in the Duke of York's Theatre the atmospheric world of an early Baroque playhouse lit by the warm glow of candlelight. The intimate nature of the space will be enhanced by the onstage seating, situated on the left and right of the stage, positioned over two levels that also include seating in the musicians’ gallery, situated above the beautifully ornate Frons Scenae Screen. The audience will be a major part of the onstage picture." Set in eighteenth-century Spain, Claire van Kampen's new play tells the intriguing true story of Farinelli, once the world’s most famous castrato and one of the greatest celebrities of his time, and his decision to trade fame and fortune in the opera houses of Europe for a life of servitude at the court of King Philippe V. Farinelli and the King explores the dynamics between Farinelli and the royal couple and features many of the exquisite arias by Handel, that were first sung by Farinelli in the 1730’s. Back to News & Press HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD First Cast Announced For Reimagined One-Part Production Tuesday, 15 September 2026 The producers of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - Sonia Friedman Productions, Colin Callender and Harry Potter Theatrical Productions - are delighted to introduce the first cast who will take to the stage in the reimagined one-part production, which begins performances on 9 October at the Palace Theatre. The announcement comes as the sold-out original two-part production enters its final week at the Palace Theatre, concluding a historic, record-breaking and ground-breaking ten-year run. The multi award-winning production will play its final performance on 20 September 2026, as previously announced, before the reimagined one-part version begins performances in October. The new cast comprises Ethan Rouse as Albus Potter, Zoë Rainey as Ginny Potter, with Hasia Akwaboah playing Rose Granger-Weasley. Adam Jackson-Smith will play Draco Malfoy and Bill Stanley also joins the cast to play his son Scorpius Malfoy. Back to News & Press Rob Brydon to star in Alan Ayckbourn's A Chorus Of Disapproval, Directed by Trevor Nunn Thursday, 28 June 2012 Trevor Nunn is to direct a cast including Rob Brydon, Nigel Harman and Ashley Jensen in Alan Ayckbourn’s A Chorus of Disapproval opening at the Harold Pinter Theatre later this year. Joining the trio on stage will be Teresa Banham, Daisy Beaumont, Georgia Brown, Rob Compton, Matthew Cottle and Steven Edis, who is also the show’s Musical Director. Further casting will be announced shortly. Tickets go on sale today (28 June 2012) for the run which begins previews on 17 September 2012 with booking open until 5 January 2013. Designs are by Rob Jones, with lighting by Tim Mitchell and sound by Fergus O’Hare. A Chorus of Disapproval is produced by Sonia Friedman Productions. This production continues Sonia Friedman's collaboration with Ayckbourn, having previously presented his Absent Friends at the Harold Pinter Theatre and his The Norman Conquests on Broadway. As with all SFP productions there will be a range of accessible seat prices, which will include over one hundred £10 seats for every performance, many bookable in advance. The Pendon Amateur Light Operatic Society’s production of The Beggar’s Opera is going off the rails, that is until a handsome but shy young widower Guy (Harman) joins the group. An instant hit with the company’s ferociously zealous director Dafydd (Brydon) and the show’s leading ladies, including Dafydd’s wife Hannah (Jensen), Guy soon gets more than he bargained for as he discovers that all the best action happens off-stage. Classic songs fill the air as the drama on stage is mirrored by the romantic rivalry and small town squabbles causing a stir in the wings of this ambitious local show. Rob Brydon (Dafydd ap Llewellyn), who is making his West End acting debut in A Chorus of Disapproval, studied at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama before joining BBC Wales as a radio and television presenter. He first came to the public’s attention in 2000 with the television shows Marion and Geoff and Human Remains, winning British Comedy Awards for both. Since then his extensive comedy credits have included I’m Alan Partridge, Little Britain, Live at the Apollo, Rob Brydon’s Annually Retentive, QI, Have I Got News For You, Gavin and Stacey, for which he was BAFTA nominated, Rob Brydon’s Identity Crisis, The Trip and Would I Lie To You?. His television acting credits include Oliver Twist, Heroes and Villains: Napoleon, Kenneth Tynan: In Praise of Hardcore and Marple and his self-titled, BAFTA nominated TV chat show which is currently in its third series on BBC2. On film he has been seen in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, 24 Hour Party People, MirrorMask, A Cock and Bull Story and the big screen version of The Trip. Brydon has worked extensively on the radio with appearances on I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue and on April Fool’s Day in 2011 he hosted Radio 2’s Ken Bruce Show in character as Ken Bruce for the whole show. In 2009, he completed an eighty-seven date tour of the UK with his stand-up show, Rob Brydon Live, which included a three-week run in London’s West End. He returned to the stage in the Autumn of 2011 alongside Kenneth Branagh in The Painkiller at The Lyric in Belfast. Also in 2011 Brydon released his autobiography, titled Small Man in a Book which he made into a nationwide tour. He will star in the BBC Paralympic drama Best of Men alongside Eddie Marsan which will air mid August ahead of the Paralympic Games. The 90-minute feature tells the story of Dr Ludwig Guttmann, a German doctor whose use of sport to treat patients in the 1940s led to the birth of the Paralympics. Up Up

Originally announced to run through January 21, 2024, Merrily We Roll Along will now run through March 24, 2024, with performances beginning on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at the Hudson Theatre (141 W 44th Street). Directed by multi-Olivier Award® winner Maria Friedman , Merrily We Roll Along features music & lyrics by Stephen Sondheim , a book by George Furth, and is based on the original play by George S.
