Back to News & Press Six-Time Tony® Award-Winning Best Play Harry Potter and the Cursed ChildAnnounces North American Tour Premiere in Chicago Monday, 11 December 2023 Producers Sonia Friedman Productions , Colin Callender and Harry Potter Theatrical Productions announced today that the North American Tour of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will launch at the James M. Nederlander Theatre in Chicago, with previews starting Tuesday, Sept 10, 2024, and an official opening on Thursday, September 26, 2024. The final performance of the 21-week engagement will be Saturday, February 1, 2025. This will be the world premiere of the first ever touring production based on the acclaimed Broadway production, currently playing at the Lyric Theatre, New York. “Chicago is ready to welcome an extended engagement of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,” Mayor Brandon Johnson said. “We are thrilled that Chicagoans will experience this magical production as the first stop of the North American Tour. Chicago is ready to embrace this show as only we know how.” Producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender said, “Developing a first-class touring production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has long been an ambition of ours. We are delighted that our wonderful and deeply gifted creative team have found a way to make it possible to bring the magic, spectacle, and thrills of our astonishing show to audiences across North America, and we can’t wait for audiences to see it.” The six-time Tony Award winning play picks up right where the last Harry Potter film left off: Nineteen years after Harry, Ron, and Hermione saved the wizarding world, they’re back on a most extraordinary new adventure – this time, joined by a brave new generation that has only just arrived at the legendary Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. When Harry Potter’s head-strong son Albus befriends the son of his fiercest rival, Draco Malfoy, it sparks an unbelievable new journey for them all—with the power to change the past and future forever. In Boeing-Boeing, an architect living in Paris ( Whitford ) has been successfully juggling three flight attendant fiancées ( Gershon , Hahn and McCormack ) with his housekeeper (Baranski) reluctantly playing romantic air traffic controller as they fly in and out of his swank bachelor pad. But when an old school pal ( Rylance ) visits, things get rather turbulent. Schedules change, flights are delayed and chaos ensues in this whirl of mayhem and matchmaking. Back to News & Press Ghosts to transfer to the Trafalgar Studios Tuesday, 19 November 2013 The Almeida Theatre’s five-star production of Ibsen’s Ghosts, adapted and directed by Richard Eyre, will transfer to Trafalgar Studios, playing from Tuesday 17 December. Lesley Manville, Jack Lowden, Brian McCardie and Charlene McKenna will reprise their roles and are joined by Adam Kotz as Pastor Manders. Richard Eyre was announced as Best Director for Ghosts at Sunday’s Evening Standard Theatre Awards. Lesley Manville was nominated for the Natasha Richardson Award for Best Actress and the production’s Designer Tim Hatley and Lighting Designer Peter Mumford were jointly nominated for Best Design. Helene Alving has spent her life suspended in an emotional void after the death of her cruel but outwardly charming husband. She is determined to escape the ghosts of her past by telling her son, Oswald, the truth about his father. But on his return from his life as a painter in France, Oswald reveals how he has already inherited the legacy of his father’s dissolute life. Multi award-winning theatre, film and television actor Lesley Manville was last on stage in Grief at the National Theatre, where she has previously been seen in Her Naked Skin, Pillars of the Community, The Alchemist and His Dark Materials. Other theatre credits include Six Degrees of Separation and All About My Mother at the Old Vic, Top Girls, Serious Money, The Pope’s Wedding and Three Sisters at the Royal Court and for the Royal Shakespeare Company she has been seen in The Wives’ Excuse, Les Liaisons Dangereuses and As You Like It. On screen, Lesley has regularly collaborated with Mike Leigh in films including Another Year, All or Nothing, Topsy-Turvy, Secrets and Lies and High Hopes.
