Back to News & Press Celebrating 10 Record-Breaking Years in the West End HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD  Announces Evolution to Reimagined One-Part Production Wednesday, 28 January 2026 Producers Sonia Friedman Productions , Colin Callender and Harry Potter Theatrical Productions announced today that after ten triumphant, record-breaking years in the West End as a two-part theatrical event, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will evolve into its critically acclaimed, reimagined format, presented as a single performance, making the production more accessible and allowing even more audiences to experience the story with one ticket and one visit to the theatre. Booking for the two-part production in London has now extended through 20 September 2026, which will be the culmination of a celebratory final year that honours a decade of extraordinary achievement, innovation and creative collaboration. The one-part production will reopen at the Palace Theatre on 6 October 2026. As Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in the West End enters its second decade, this evolution marks an exciting new chapter. The production will move to the version of the show currently performed by companies around the globe, including the Broadway production in New York City, where the reimagined one-part production premiered in 2021 and is currently breaking all major box-office records. The one-part production has a running time of 2 hours and 55 minutes including one interval. Back to News & Press New York’s Lyric Theatre Marquee Takes Flight Ahead of the Broadway Premiere of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts One and Two Wednesday, 28 February 2018 With a design by the production’s Set Designer Christine Jones and International Scenic Supervisor Brett J. Banakis , the building now features a 150 foot, 50,000 pound wing spanning from the theatre’s marquee up the side of the building. The iconic nest with child adorns the top of Lyric Theatre , overlooking 43rd Street. “It is a thrill to have the Lyric as a canvas, both inside and out, for our production,” said Christine Jones and Brett J. Banakis . “One of the many gifts the Lyric Theatre provided us is over 200 feet of frontage on 43rd street, which includes the beautiful historic facade of the original 1903 building. The producers tasked us with taking advantage of this expanse of space with a visual gesture that relates to the show and connects the old facade with the rest of the newer (1996) facade. We drew inspiration from the wing artwork from the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child poster art, and tried to translate that imagery into a large, metal installation on the side of the building, to serve as a beacon, a gathering spot, and a piece of public sculpture, here in the heart of Times Square.” Harry Potter and the Cursed Child begins preview performances on March 16, 2018 and the official opening is April 22, 2018 at the fully renovated Lyric Theatre . Playing an ambitious rock band struggling to record their new album are: Zachary Hart as Reg the bass player, Lucy Karczewski as Diana the charismatic lead singer, Jack Riddiford as Peter the guitarist and Nia Towle as Holly, the keys player. They join previously announced cast members., all of whom are reprising their roles from the acclaimed Broadway production. Andrew R. Butler and Eli Gelb as sound engineers Charlie and Grover, and Chris Stack as Simon the drummer. Understudies include Sam Denia (Reg, Charlie, Grover), Rima Georges (Holly), Lucy Gray (Diana) and Steve Shirley {Simon and Peter). As the band strives to perfect each track of their make-or-break album, the cast of actor-musicians will play their instruments and sing live on stage each night, echoing the exacting process of the recording studio. White, Delroy Brown as Marty and Kimmy Edwards as Michelle Morris. Established star of Broadway Marisha Wallace joined the London cast of Dreamgirls earlier this year having received rave reviews in the role of Effie White in the Dallas Theater Center production. On Broadway, she has originated roles in Disney’s Aladdin and Something Rotten! and toured the US in The Book of Mormon. Electric vocalist Moya Angela has been a respected musical theatre actress in the US for many years, receiving great acclaim playing Effie White in the North American revival tour of Dreamgirls , touring with Disney’s The Lion King and being part of the original Broadway casts of Ghost the Musical and most recently In Transit. She wowed judges and audiences when she auditioned for the 2016 series of America’s Got Talent , reaching the quarterfinal stages. Karen Mav has been thrilling audiences in Dreamgirls since making her professional stage debut in the production last year. She quickly made a name for herself on ITVs The X Factor , successfully making it through to the notorious Six Chair Challenge before going on to release an original Christmas single in 2015.
