Three-time Tony Award Nominee, Kelly O'Hara, to star opposite Matthew Broderick in Nice Work If You Can Get It
Thursday, 1 September 2011
Three-time Tony Award nominee Kelli O’Hara (South Pacific, The Pajama Game and The Light in the Piazza) will star opposite two-time Tony Award-winner Matthew Broderick (The Producers, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Brighton Beach Memoirs) in the new musical comedy NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT directed and choreographed by three-time Tony Award-winner Kathleen Marshall (Anything Goes, The Pajama Game, Wonderful Town), opening on Broadway this April.
NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT reunites Kelli O’Hara with Kathleen Marshall once again following their Tony-winning success with The Pajama Game and the critically-acclaimed Bells Are Ringing at Encores! last season. NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT also marks Matthew Broderick’s first musical since The Producers.
NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT will open on Broadway in April, 2012 and will be produced by Roger Berlind, Sonia Friedman, Roy Furman and Scott Landis.
With a book by two-time Tony Award-winner Joe DiPietro (Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score for Memphis), NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT follows Billie Bendix (Kelli O'Hara), a tough-as-nails bootlegger who meets up with wealthy playboy Jimmy Winter (Matthew Broderick) on the weekend of his nuptials. Featuring a veritable hit parade of iconic George and Ira Gershwin songs as well as some unknown gems in their catalog, NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT is a new take on a classic 1920’s musical farce.
"I am over the moon to get to work with the brilliant Kelli O'Hara again. Kelli and Matthew starring together in a romantic screwball comedy and singing Gershwin songs is going to be a total blast!" said Kathleen Marshall.
Additional casting, venue and creative team will be announced shortly.
